What is translation? Ideally one has the feel, the timbre, the subtle connotations or the little
innate joke of what has been communicated in the source language
conveyed into the target language, causing the same understanding and
thus bridging the language gap. Merely "translating" the words is not enough. Thorough research and gaining understanding of the meaning of the words by
clearing their definitions in an appropriate dictionary and/or thesaurus usually brings about the desired result. My approach to translation is based on the unique Study Technology®
by humanitarian and educator L. Ron Hubbard,
which I am certified on. Living and working a multicultural United Kingdom
provided the helpful background for a very good understanding of the language and what is being communicated.
Experience of using foreign languages and living outside of this country has familiarised me with a knowledge of
terms and phrases to integrate and blend. Using an extensive library of
English and European or international dictionaries,
a glossary collection
and a trained knowledge of Internet search techniques supply the tools to
provide high quality translations in the desired time frame. With the
use of Wordfast,
a highly versatile translation memory tool, which also assists in
translating HTML encoded web pages, the whole process is speeded up
considerably for your benefit. |
